NESP Solar Sheds

New England Solar Power has developed the "Solar Shed" as an option for Stand Alone / Off Grid Power applications.
Some of the benefits over roof mounted systems can be:

  • The solar shed is positioned for optimum sunshine hours when existing buildings may not be.
  • Your roof may not be suitable for mounting solar panels and frames - i.e. facing the wrong direction or complex hips and valleys.
  • When solar panels and frames interfere with the aesthetics of a house, the solar shed can be positioned up to 70 meters away from the house.
  • The battery room and control board are housed inside the solar shed, not taking up precious space in your garage or shed - You won't have to build a lockable and ventilated battery room.
  • It is a complete power producing unit that can be unbolted and relocated to another property if you move.
  • The system can be expanded by adding additional ground mounted panel frames, or another shed installed if battery storage is to be increased.
  • The solar shed can be integrated into an existing diesel generator power supply, allowing for automatic generator starting in extended cloudy periods, or periods of high demand.

Our Solar Sheds come in the following sizes:

(kWp = kilowatt-peak and refers to the peak solar array output)
(kWh = kilowatt-hours and refers to energy consumed over a period of time)

  • 1.9 kWp (10 x 190W panels) – will supply 6kWh per day in winter, 7.5kWh in summer
  • 2.2 kWp (12 x 190W panels) – will supply 7.3kWh per day in winter, 9kWh in summer
  • 2.6 kWp (14 x 190W panels) – will supply 8.5kWh per day in winter, 10.5kWh in summer
  • 3.0 kWp (16 x 190W panels) – will supply 9.8kWh per day in winter, 12kWh in summer
  • 3.4 kWp (18 x 190W panels) – will supply 11kWh per day in winter, 13.5kWh in summer
  • 3.8 kWp (20 x 190W panels) – will supply 12kWh per day in winter, 15kWh in summer

The figures above are a guide only, and will depend on the climate and shading at your location, and also the proportion of daytime and night time power demands on the system.

People often ask "How big will the system be to power an average house?". There is no simple answer to this question, as each household can have dramatically different power demands. We need you to fill out a power demand profile form for us to determine how large the solar array will need to be, and the battery storage you'll need.
